Jimmie Wayne Liles, 67, of Rockingham, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026.
He was born in Moore County, Sept. 20, 1959, son of the late Daniel Jimmie “Budgie” Liles and Jeanette Faye Liles.
Wayne was a hardworking, kind-hearted man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He spent most of his working life in the construction industry specializing in cabinetry. He was taught the trade by his father “Budgie” and continued passing down the knowledge and skills to his sons and grandsons. He took pride in his work and providing for the people he loved.
Wayne enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved riding horses and motorcycles, and in his earlier years, he found enjoyment in reading. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved joking around with people, often bringing laughter and a smile wherever he went. He was also a good listener, and everyone knew they could turn to him when they needed someone to hear them.
Above all, Wayne loved his family. He was a wonderful father and father-in-law, and his grandchildren held a particularly special place in his heart. The love he had for his family was evident in the way he cared for them and made time for them.
To the ones who really knew him, Wayne will be remembered as a good man with a good heart, a hard worker, a loving father and grandfather, and a friend who could always make people laugh. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he made and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Liles.
Left to cherish Wayne’s memories are his children, Titus Liles (Jessica) and Kressie Liles Taylor (Robbie), both of Rockingham, and Joshua Liles (Anna) of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Cameron Liles, Whitney Liles, Katie Liles, Hayden Taylor, Abbie Taylor, Leah Taylor, Levi Liles and Laci Liles; and his brother, Teddy Liles of Hamlet.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Beverly Hills Baptist Church, Rockingham, with Pastor Lenier Furr officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 197 Greenlake Road, Rockingham.
