It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Vera Jean Brown, 79, of Hamlet, who passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven.
She was born Jan. 3, 1947, to the late Johnny and Annie Lee Stafford.
Vera found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially watching her favorite westerns and spending time with her beloved family and grandchildren. Her love, warmth, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by a sister Juanita Conner.
A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Richmond Co. Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Childers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at her home.
Surviving, her children, Gregg Brown (Melissa), Keith Brown (Shannon), Mark Brown (Lisa) and Lynne Dunn (Dewey); brothers, John Henry Stafford and Jerry Stafford; grandchildren, Joe, Nichlas, Taylor, Torie, Kaylee, Buster, Matt, Alex, Johnny Wayne, Tyler, Kole, Corey, Chynna and Chander; 19 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Faye Graham and Vickie Motley.
