Woman charged in Rockingham vehicle break-ins

ROCKINGHAM — Police have charged a local woman in connection to several recent vehicle break-ins.

According to warrants, 45-year-old Rosheeda Shanta Prince broke into two vehicles on Sept. 18: a 2011 Nissan Frontier; and a 2020 Chrysler Voyager van, owned by McNair Auto.

Prince is also accused of breaking into a 2022 Ford Escape 10 days later and stealing a bookbag containing a Kindle, papers and pens.

On Oct. 1, Prince allegedly broke into a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe and trespassed on the property of Perdue Farms in Rockingham.

Prince was arrested Oct. 5 and charged with three counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle with theft, and second-degree trespassing.

She is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a combined $25,000 secure bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 14.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Prince has the following prior convictions:

2004 - assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury

2020 - larceny of a motor vehicle, possessing stolen goods, speeding to elude arrest

2021 - two counts of breaking and entering vehicles

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
