HAMLET — A woman is being held without bond after allegedly threatening to kill children.
According to an arrest warrant, 23-year-old Jada Cherise Jones, of Hamlet, told the reported victim and her children that she would go to Monroe Avenue and kill the kids.
The children in question are ages 5 and 9, according to the warrant.
Jones allegedly made the threat on Sept. 30 and the reported victim swore out a warrant the same day. She was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 7.
Records show Jones was booked into the Richmond County Jail at 12:56 p.m. and no bond has been authorized.
The release order states that Jones is to have no contact with the reporting victim.
Jones is being held for 48 hours in accordance with the Pretrial Integrity Act and a bond hearing by a judge is scheduled for Oct. 9. She is scheduled to appear in court on the charge Nov. 7.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Jones is serving a 12-month suspended sentence on an Aug. 21 conviction for driving while impaired.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
